Inflammation, Nutrition and Nutritional Cleansing

Inflammation causes a myriad of problems in our bodies from major diseases such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis and Alzheimer’s to depression and pain.  All of us know how important it is to get inflammation under control if we want to protect our health.  If you’re like me you want to go the holistic route rather than take a handful of medications that only cause other side effects and keep the cycle going.

Addressing what we put into our bodies is the first and most common route to take when trying to control inflammation.  What you put inside your body shows up on the outside and the way your body performs. I’ll first address this through the foods we eat and then through another common practice called Nutritional Cleansing.close-up-cooking-dinner-46239

There are many foods that naturally fight inflammation such as green leafy vegetables like kale and spinach plus fruits, especially berries.  These fruits and vegetables are high in natural antioxidants and polyphenols which are protective compounds. In addition, olive oil, nuts like almonds and walnuts, and fatty fish such as salmon, tuna and sardines combat inflammation.

In addition to adding these foods, deleting processed foods, junk food especially fried foods, refined carbohydrates and sodas will help your body not only fight inflammation but release excess weight and you’ll feel your best.  When you feel your best; you perform your best.

When your body is subjected to injury and exposed to environmental toxins such as pollution in our air, water and chemicals in our food it disrupts the immune system and your body goes to work fighting these invaders resulting in inflammation.  When we go through the process of nutritional cleansing to remove these toxins and chemicals from our body, the cells are activated releasing obsolete cell parts either to reuse or get rid of them like cleaning out your closet of old clothes!  Nutritional cleansing helps your body be more receptive to take in the amazing nutrients you’re feeding it through nutrient-dense protein shakes or healthy whole foods.

I’m sure you’ve heard of intermittent fasting.  Nutritional cleansing is nutritionally supported intermittent fasting. It nourishes and energizes your cells and body rather than depriving it.  It’s like resting and recharging your body without breaking down muscle.
